Welcome to the Book Inn Review. This is a side project apart from my online music magazine Hardrock Haven. Hardrock Haven is geared toward my passion for music, and this site takes on my love of reading. Generally, my genre of choice is Sword & Sorcery. Authors such as Robert E. Howard, Roger Zelazny and R.A. Salvatore and their fiction works have provided me with hours of enjoyment. Fantasy and Science Fiction quickly follow in the footsteps of Sword & Sorcery. The work of Jim Butcher, within his world of Harry Dresden, has been a fun ride.

My latest discovery has been Edgar Rice Burroughs’ John Carter saga along with his written stories of Tarzan. And I am always on the lookout for Sword & Sorcery books from the ’60s, ’70s and ’80s, which are now out of print. I’m not necessarily looking to delve into sweeping epics like the J.R.R. Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings or Robert Jordan’s The Dragon Reborn series these days, although these are great books to read as well. But I prefer book series like Red Sonja, Flash Gordon and Oron, which are refreshing and fun with quick-strike stories that don’t mire you with pages and pages of heavy details.

There are slew of great authors unknown to today’s readers. Hopefully, I can share a few with you.

Kindest Regards
John Kindred
